Dial Caliper is A Locksmith Tools.

Locksmith Tools

Dial caliper is another locksmith tools that required by Locksmith to measure pin tumblers, keys, blanks, etc.

Dial caliper is a further refinement to the vernier caliper. Technically it can be used to:

. Measure inside dimension.
. Measure outside dimension.
. Measure step dimension.

The dial caliper is easy to read which translates to speed in the work place.

As for the construction, a small gear rack drives a pointer on a circular dial. The dial is usually arranged to be rotatable beneath the pointer, allowing for differential measurements.

Typically, the pointer rotates once every inch, tenth of an inch, or 1 millimeter, allowing for a direct reading without the need to read a vernier scale. The slide of a dial caliper can usually be locked at a setting using a small lever or thumbscrew; this allows simple go or no-go checks of part sizes.

How to maintain this Locksmith Tools

Dial caliper is a delicate instrument. Therefore, observe the following:

1. Do not left unprotected on a worktable, they will probably be damaged.

2. Keep it free of foreign particles whenever possible and when not in use, store them in their appropriate container.

3. If the tool needs to be stored for a period of time, the placing of a silica gel pack into the toolbox draw will also help to retard rusting.

4. Established a frequency for calibration (at least once per year).
